The Timeless Café

Owner: Dwayne Spencer
Location: Lebanon, PA
Business: Café
Purpose of Loan: Business Purchase and Working Capital
Impact: Economic Security

Dwayne Spencer knows that there is no time like the present to jump on a great opportunity. Starting in the restaurant industry when he was 19, Dwayne developed his skills and worked his way up through the ranks for 20 years before becoming the head chef at a downtown Lebanon restaurant. While working there, the desire to continue taking the next step in his career inspired Dwayne to want to own his own restaurant. He did not have to look far as The Timeless Café, a popular breakfast and lunch spot across the street, was put up for sale by the owners in 2016. The café was a perfect opportunity for Dwayne to take over an established business (opened in 2007) and make it his own.

Dwayne decided to take the plunge and purchase The Timeless Café, but he had no experience running a business. He worked with local business support organizations to develop a concrete business plan and started searching for a lender. After trying several different financial institutions, he was referred to Community First Fund by his cousin and Community First client Champ Hall. Our lending team worked closely with Dwayne to make sure all his financials were in order and match him with the best loan product. In 2017, we provided Dwayne with a loan for the purchase of the business, which included assets and equipment, as well as working capital.

Dwayne quickly put his own spin on The Timeless Café to great success. To this day, customers rave about the cozy atmosphere and antique décor just as much as the delicious sandwiches, sides and coffee his team prepares. He partners with local farms and businesses to ensure his farm-to-table menu is crafted with the freshest ingredients. Dwayne’s dedication to quality food and welcoming environment are as timeless as the café itself.
