A unique transition from nursing to carpentry work proved successful for one woman entrepreneur. Former veteran Lindsey Snowden served seven years as a field nurse in the US Army and, upon discharge, continued her nursing career for an additional 15 years. During that time, she developed an interest in carpentry, learned the craft, and started working as a part-time contractor.
In 2017, Linsey started her own construction business named Purpose Driven Contractors. Specializing in finish carpentry for residential properties, Purpose Driven is a licensed Minority Business Enterprise, Women’s Business Enterprise, and holds a Veteran-owned designation. These certifications are instrumental in Lindsay’s ability to bid on potential contracts for redevelopment projects funded by government tax credit and revitalization programs.
Lindsay faced a vital problem… Community First Fund helped Lindsay address a gap between contract award and payment by providing a loan to support the business’s cash flow.
