Purpose of Loan: Furnishings and Equipment
Impact: Economic Security
Lancaster Arts Hotel is the premiere destination for those visiting Lancaster County. Individually designed rooms, an art gallery featuring local artists, and on-site quality dining makes this restored 19th century tobacco warehouse a truly unique hotel.
The hotel was the vision of a group of area entrepreneurs who wanted to retrofit the historic structure and make it something special. Although they had secured financing for most of the project, a loan from Community First Fund was needed to purchase furnishings and equipment for the hotel. “Community First Fund filled a funding gap which really made the whole project a reality”, says William Stull, co-owner of the hotel, “The whole organization is quite an asset to start-up businesses.”
Today the hotel, with guestrooms beautifully appointed with many locally made furniture and fixtures, is prospering. In addition to temporary construction jobs during renovations, this project also created over fifty permanent jobs for local residents.
