Over the past decade, more than 40% of Reading, PA youth have not graduated high school. In response to this on-going trend, I-LEAD Charter School, a community-based nonprofit organization, opened as the first brick and mortar charter school in the city of Reading. The school serves students in grades 9 through 12 and has over 500 high school learners enrolled today. Loans from Community First Fund helped the school start and expand. Learners, many of whom previously dropped-out of the school system, are now graduating and moving on to college and new jobs with help from I-LEAD programs.
